A letter from a grateful Petachya parent..

When our special needs son, Chaim, joined our family we were extremely overwhelmed. We struggled to manage, to survive, to accept. Everything that was working before with our other children, was failing now with Chaim. Anxiety and fear came to live with us. My wife and I couldn't face each other. We were scared to say out loud what we were thinking.

Desperately, we reached out to Petachya.

Petachya opened their doors, their arms and their hearts to Chaim and our family. We felt we were no longer alone. They gave us hope. Within days, we learned not only to accept our special boy, but to love him unconditionally. There are real angels working at Petachya. They taught us not only about new techniques and approaches, but also showed us that our son is a miracle; he is unique and exceptional. He is our family blessing. With Petachya's help, every day of Chaim's life is an improvement - every day there is a new victory. God chose Chaim to be blessed and to bring more light, kindness, compassion and appreciation into our lives.

With all the words in the world, I can't thank Petachya enough for teaching me to love my son.

From a father of a special needs child

When Avi was born, people said he was a “special soul,” and other such platitudes that didn’t really help. They said, surely such a special soul would have angels looking after him from above. I never felt that way. I didn’t see him as any more “special” than my other children, and didn’t feel any angels from heaven in my life.

Only when I came to Petachya did I see those malachim, who so dedicatedly look after my child, first in the rehabilitative day-care centers and then in preschool. Having Petachya in our lives for several years now, I can tell you that every staff member is truly an angel from heaven. Thank you for your empire of angels which supports and encourages and is always here for us.
